Intermediate/Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer

Job Summary:
As an Intermediate/Senior Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer, you will be responsible for the engineering, detailed design and drafting of electrical and instrumentation systems for oil and gas projects. Based in Athens, Greece, you will work as an independent contractor, applying your expertise to ensure the accurate and efficient execution of complex design tasks and projects.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and Engineering:
  • Design and development of instrumentation and control systems.
  • Review and check technical vendor submittals for installation requirements. Prepare instrumentation calculations for control valves, flow orifices, and relief valves as required.
  • Design specialized control systems / instrumentation (i.e. PLCs) and provide field support through construction and commissioning & prepare Equipment Specifications.
  • Provide instrument / electrical specifications, drawings, scopes of work, construction work packages, including the following: Instrumentation (pressure, temperature, level, flow, analytical)
  • Instrument and power conduit schedules
  • Instrument and power cable layouts
  • Develop cable tray designs, voltage drop calculations, conductor sizing, control/marshalling panel designs, I/O schematics, power distribution, field junction boxes, cable schedules and area classification studies.
  • Development of 2D drawings & 3D models.
  • Document control.
  • General support to the E&I team.
  • Site visits and inspections.
  • Support in providing E&I production estimates, schedules and deliverables lists.
2. Coordination and Collaboration:
  • Work closely with other engineers and designers to develop integrated design solutions.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, civil, and process engineers.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback.
3. Technical Support:
  • Assist in the development of technical specifications and documentation.
  • Provide design support during project execution and commissioning phases.
  • Conduct site visits to gather information and verify design requirements.
4. Compliance and Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure all designs meet safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement quality assurance procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency in design output.
  • Conduct design verifications and validations to ensure compliance with project specifications.
5. Documentation and Reporting:
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and manuals.
  • Present design updates and technical findings to stakeholders and clients.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of design progress and deliverables.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • University degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience as E&I Engineer within the oil and gas industry.
  • Proficiency in electrical & I&C analysis, design and drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation).
  • Strong understanding of Greek and industry standards and regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Licensed Greek professional engineer with stamping capacity,
  • Fluent in English.
