Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineer

Job Summary
As a Civil Structural – Architectural Engineer, you will support the design and execution of architectural and building-related components for oil and gas and industrial facilities. This role within a global engineering firm involves integrating architectural, civil, and structural design requirements to deliver safe, functional, and code-compliant facilities across all project phases.


Key Responsibilities
Architectural & Structural Design
  • Develop and review architectural and structural engineering deliverables including drawings, specifications, design calculations, and technical reports.
  • Design and coordinate industrial buildings, control rooms, shelters, modular buildings, and associated architectural systems.
  • Ensure architectural layouts, building envelopes, and structural systems align with operational, safety, and maintenance requirements.
Project Execution & Coordination
  • Coordinate architectural and structural design activities with civil, mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.
  • Participate in design reviews, interdisciplinary coordination meetings, and constructability assessments.
  • Support EPC project execution through detailed design, procurement, construction support, and commissioning phases.
Construction & Field Support
  • Provide technical support during construction, including responses to RFIs, field change requests, and site queries.
  • Participate in site visits, inspections, and resolution of field-related design issues.
  • Support as-built documentation and project closeout activities.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, industrial standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications.
  • Support hazard identification, risk assessments, and adherence to corporate and client HSE requirements.
  • Contribute to quality assurance processes and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Intermediate-level experience with 5–10 years in civil, structural, and/or architectural engineering, preferably within oil and gas or industrial project environments.
  • Experience working in an EPC or engineering consultancy setting.
  • Strong understanding of industrial building design, structural systems, and applicable building codes and standards.
  • Familiarity with discipline-appropriate architectural and structural design software tools (general familiarity expected).
  • Strong coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada and ability to support projects in Burnaby, BC or Alberta.
