Job Summary

The Junior–Intermediate Piping/Mechanical Designer supports the design and development of piping systems and mechanical layouts for energy projects. Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, this role contributes to the preparation of design deliverables, ensures compliance with applicable codes and standards, and assists in optimizing system performance, constructability, and safety. The position offers progressive responsibility based on experience, from assisting with basic design tasks to independently developing detailed design packages.

Key Responsibilities
Design & Drafting
  • Develop 2D and 3D piping and mechanical designs, layouts, and models.
  • Prepare general arrangement drawings, isometrics, and fabrication details.
  • Assist in equipment layout and piping routing in coordination with other disciplines.
Project Coordination
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project teams to ensure integrated design solutions.
  • Participate in design reviews, model reviews, and coordination meetings.
  • Incorporate feedback and resolve design clashes or interferences.
Technical Support
  • Apply relevant codes, standards, and specifications in design work.
  • Support the development of material take-offs (MTOs) and bill of materials (BOMs).
  • Assist in preparing design documentation, reports, and calculations as required.
Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure designs meet company quality standards and project requirements.
  • Conduct self-checks and participate in peer reviews of design deliverables.
  • Maintain proper document control and revision tracking.
Continuous Improvement
  • Contribute to improving design processes, tools, and workflows.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Junior: 0–3 years of relevant experience
    • Intermediate: 4–9 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency with industry-standard 2D drafting and 3D modeling software (platform-agnostic).
  • Basic to intermediate understanding of piping design principles, mechanical systems, and layout development.
  • Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards (e.g., piping, pressure systems, and safety standards).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and P&IDs.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous learning.
