Job Summary
As an Engineering Lead, you will provide technical leadership, project oversight, and team coordination for complex energy and infrastructure projects across multidisciplinary engineering environments. The role is responsible for guiding engineering design and execution activities, supporting project delivery objectives, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety requirements, and fostering collaboration among internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders. You will play a key role in driving engineering excellence, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams across energy and infrastructure projects.
  • Provide technical direction, mentorship, and support to engineers and technical specialists.
  • Review engineering deliverables to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with applicable standards, codes, and client requirements.
  • Support problem-solving and decision-making related to technical design, constructability, and operational challenges.
Project Delivery & Execution
  • Oversee engineering activities to ensure alignment with project scope, schedule, budget, and performance objectives.
  • Collaborate with project managers and discipline leads to monitor progress and manage engineering priorities.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to support successful project execution.
  • Participate in project planning, resource allocation, and workload forecasting activities.
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Interface with clients, contractors, vendors, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders throughout project execution.
  • Support technical meetings, design reviews, and project status discussions.
  • Contribute to proposal development, technical presentations, and client relationship management activities.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure engineering activities adhere to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, engineering governance processes, and company procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering practices, project delivery, and operational performance.
Team Development & Mentorship
  • Mentor junior and intermediate engineering staff through coaching, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing.
  • Support performance development, succession planning, and team capability growth initiatives.
  • Encourage collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the engineering team.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Professional engineering designation or eligibility for registration with a recognized engineering body is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 20+ years of progressive engineering experience within the energy, infrastructure, industrial, or related sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and managing complex technical projects.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design principles, project delivery methodologies, and industry standards.
  • Experience supporting large-scale capital projects from concept through execution and commissioning is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in fast-paced project environments.
  • Proficiency with common engineering design, project management, and collaboration software platforms.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
